Privacy policy

DocuBud (“we”, “us”) makes a document scanner and PDF toolkit for mobile. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. The short version: your documents stay on your phone.

1. Your documents

Scanning, cropping, enhancing, PDF tools, compression, text recognition, background removal, signing, converting and read-aloud all run on your device. Your files are not uploaded to our servers and we cannot see them. Files are stored in the app’s private storage on your phone until you delete them or uninstall the app.

2. What we collect

• Account data: your name, email address and profile photo from your Google account, and a unique account ID.
• Country: the country you choose in the app, used for pricing and regional settings.
• Plan and billing status: whether you are on Free or Pro and the billing period. Payment details are handled by Google Play and never reach us.
• Usage counts: anonymous events such as “compress was used” or “scan saved”, linked to a random install ID. They never include file names or content. You can turn this off in Settings.
• Technical data: app version and platform, to fix bugs and keep the service running.

3. What we never collect

We never collect the content of your documents, file names, extracted text, signatures, photos, contacts or precise location.

4. Permissions

• Camera: to scan documents. Frames are processed on your phone.
• Photos and files: to pick images and PDFs and to save results when you tap Save.
• Internet: for sign-in, remote settings and your plan.

You can change permissions at any time in your phone’s settings; the app keeps working with the rest.

5. Cloud backup (Pro)

Cloud backup is optional and belongs to the Pro plan. Documents are only backed up if you turn it on, and are encrypted in transit and at rest. Until you switch it on, nothing leaves your device. You can turn it off and delete your backup at any time.

6. Service providers

• Google: sign-in with your Google account (Firebase Authentication) and Google Play for purchases.
• Hosting and database provider: stores your account, plan, remote settings and anonymous usage counts.
• Google ML Kit: text recognition and background removal run on your device and do not send your images to Google.

We do not sell your personal data and do not use it for advertising.

7. How long we keep data

Account data is kept while your account exists. Anonymous usage counts are kept for up to 24 months. When you delete your account we delete your account and subscription records; the app removes the files it stores on your phone.

8. Your rights

You can access, correct, export or delete your data, and object to processing. Delete your account in the app (Account → Delete account) or at delete-account. For anything else write to support@docubud.com; we reply within 30 days. Where the EU/UK GDPR or India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act applies, these rights apply as the law provides.

9. Security

Connections use HTTPS. Sign-in tokens are verified on our servers. Admin access is protected by separate credentials. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit what we store so there is little to lose.

10. Children

DocuBud is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has an account, contact us and we will remove it.

11. International transfers

Our providers may process data in other countries. We choose providers that protect data to an appropriate standard.

12. Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
